Kostas is one of the very few performing songwriters that can play full sets of top chart songs while never playing a cover...
Kostas, somewhat of a local celebrity because of his ability to churn out No. 1 country hits, has known Gryder since the 1970s, “when (Gryder) was just a young hippie.” The Jerry Garcia lookalike, no stranger to the hipster days himself, played music with Gryder in Billings. They ran into each other years later, after both had moved, and began recording songs at Recording EDGe in Bozeman.
Kostas, who has written hundreds of songs that top country artists have later recorded — including Dwight Yoakam’s “I Ain’t That Lonely Yet,” Patty Loveless’ “Timber I’m Fallin’ in Love,” and the Dixie Chicks’ “I Can Love You Better” — was at Recording EDGe/RecEDGe records Friday to listen to some of Edd's mixes on his two most recent soon-to-be hits.
Have you ever wondered where the top performing artists get their songs? For many, stars such as Patty Lovless and the Dixie Chicks, Dwight Yokum and more, Kostas is almost a one-stop shop.Kostas has written songs written with Vince Gill, Rauel and Harlan Howard to name a few.
Where do these thousands of songs Kostas writes come from?
How about dust?
Kostas wrote the song “Dust” during a bout of house-cleaning one day. When you hear the words to this song an all too familiar battle comes to mind. Yes, dust must be dust!
