How we get a good sound
Recording EDGe Clients Say...
I have had the opportunity to work at Recording Edge Studios with Edd Gryder on several occasions and it has always been a very pleasurable, efficient, and fun experience. Aside from the good humor and joking around that I know will make for a comfortable and relaxing session, when it's time to get down to business, Edd is right there. He knows just what to do to get great drum sounds, and is ALWAYS concerned that I'm pleased with the sounds he is getting. The Studio is set up intelligently and the recording equipment is top of the line, and Edd is a master at the console. I'm always happy to get a session call from Edd!
Last May I was visiting Montana for my son's graduation and, of course, as I waited for my plane at the airport in New York, one of the New York music houses I write for contacted me. They needed an upright bass and jazz drum track for one of their preferred clients IMMEDIATELY. I contacted Edd at Recording EDGe and explained my situation and dilemma to him. Later that day, when I arrived in Bozeman he had already found an upright bass for me to use (I hadn't even asked him to do that-he just took care of it for me!!!) and had blocked out time from his busy schedule for me to come to his studio and cut the aforementioned track.
I live and work in New York City and I’m used to working in some of the best studios and with some of the most top flight audio engineers in the world. I can't begin to express how easily, seamlessly and quickly Edd helped me put together an amazing track that sounded 100% as pristine and gorgeous as anything that can be done here in New York. He worked patiently with me until we had it just right and, thanks to Edd, I placed a track in a commercial that ran for 13 weeks on television! I could never have done it with out him.
I can't speak highly enough about Edd’s engineering and his abilities as a producer or-at least as importantly-his ability to allow the artist to feel comfortable and relaxed so that they can deliver the best performance possible. I highly recommend Recording EDGe studios to anyone who is serious about making the best possible recordings at the most competitive prices anywhere.

I had the chance to work with Edd on a project this Spring. The Recording EDGe studio is state of the art, of course, but the atmosphere is what stands out. Edd is both a thorough professional and a nice, funny, thoughtful guy to work with. His easygoing demeanor made a deadline intense project a blast to pull off. I look forward to recording with him again soon.
When I first walked into the Recording EDGe studio the environment was just what you would expect in a top notch session. Edd was ready with mics, phones and tracks. The sound he got from my saxes were as acoustic as I could have hoped for. Not too wet and just enough "live" sound. Thanks EDGe for providing such a great venue for all of the rest of us.

Every time I’ve recorded at Recording EDGe Edd has gotten a good sound, and we’ve moved fast and gotten a lot done. And you never know who’s going to show up to listen in, making it a fun hang, too.
As a professional bass player in out out of studios thoughout Los Angeles, New York, Seattle and London, I've found a studio right here in the Bozeman area to meet my recording needs. That studio is Recording EDGe. Not only does Recording EDGe have the latest gear, but the know how as well as the insight how to get the best performance out it. Edd really made me feel like I could flex my artist muscle while at the same time keeping the sound in check. Thanks Recording EDGe.

Kostas said “Edd’s pretty topnotch”. “You could do an album here,” he said of the facilities at Recording EDGe. “He has lots of great gear that is capable of replicating any sound that you want." Quote from the Belgrade News.
You’ve come to the right place…
Michael Anderson, a well known #1 hit Nashville songwriter said “ If you want a good sounding recording for a song submission you should talk to this guy” as he pointed me (Edd Gryder) out of the crowd at a Taxi Road Rally in Los Angeles attended by over 2800 musicians and songwriters.
Michael was referring to submissions he has heard that were skillfully recorded, engineered, produced and mixed at Recording EDGe.If you want your songs heard, they must sound good too.Remember, a diamond in the rough is often passed over.Don’t let a bad sounding recording ruin your chances for success. My experience at Recording EDGe was unlike any other!!!! Edd knows his stuff and has the skill to make good songs sound great! I love recording here because Edd cares about the music! Recording EDGe is a place where great tunes and great times happen.
Well Edd, again I would just like to thank you for the wonderful experience of working at Recording EDGe. In between the bouts of hysterical laughter, i actually did learn quite a bit. MORE TONE !!!! What impressed me most was how you treated the clients. You respected them as artists but also kept the atmosphere jovial and lively--which in my opinion help to get the best personality out of the music, nothing ever sounded contrived or forced to fit a popular mould. The other thing that struck me is how much time Edd spent before the record button ever gets pushed.....MIC Placement is everything; with the exception of you have to have a good sounding room, excellent mics, a wonderful analogue mic pre, and well then you have to have great A/D converters...but only if they are synced up to an amazing master clock which then goes into a fierce computer running the Best DAW software.....then... then you are ready. Am i missing anything....yes. I am missing hanging out in the studio with my good buddy Edd Gryder.
"My cello has never sounded so rich and full. Other studios couldn't quite capture the 'live' sound. Recording EDGe has good gear, an expert engineer with a musical ear, and a relaxed atmosphere." I look forward to recording with you again.
Recording EDGe has provided me the best in equipment and comfortable surroundings. Edd, provides state of the art equipment within a friendly environment, where you can produce the best for your music and use of time there.
"I've been around music and recording for a few years and experienced a couple of studios, but Recording Edge is definitely the best! When I presented my project to Edd, he was very enthusiastic and excited about helping me produce the best product possible. The atmosphere is relaxing yet professional and I really look forward to each session, as opposed to dreading them as I have in other studios. Edd is a pleasure to work with, not to mention the fact that he has the best rates around!"

"What a hoot", "just like the Big Boys". As an amature instrumentalist I wasn't sure how the recordings would turn out but Edd covered all the bases and the finished CD is something the family really appreciates.. I am not getting any better so it is good to have something I can go to later and say "see how good I was".. Thanks Edd for your patients and professional approach to making a great piece of my history.
Everyone really likes the Burning Strings CD and can't believe it is all just one person. I am still playing live for the community every week. The Burning Strings CD is being played on our local radio station and everyone seems to really like it. I will let you know soon how many more of the Burning Strings CD's I will need to be mailed.
Recording EDGe ROCKS!Donnie Love
"When it comes to recording experiences there are two things that have to go hand in hand. Great equipment that maximizes the sound that you are creating instead of fighting it and a recording engineer that is on the nuts with his gear while thinking like a musician. Needless to say there are not a lot of places where these qualities come together in concert but Recording EDGe is that place. Time and time again I will lay down material to find that in my absence and during mix down it had somehow cranked up a notch and become settled in a way that prior to that moment I had only heard in my mind. That in a very small way really defines what Recording EDGe is about. Taking your gift and stepping up to the next level."

"Recording at the Recording EDGe was a great experience with a very professional, yet casual recording environment. The quality and attention to detail is a start to finish process. Edd’s years of experience and expertise showed in that my first single got air time on several radio stations." Keith Martin - Songwriter /Artist.P.S."You'll love the gorgeous mountain setting around Bozeman and Yellowstone National Park is not far away"!
"Edd is an honest and friendly person and is a very professional person to deal with. His knowledge and personality make for a great working experience, both in the quality of his equipment and Edd's experience in how to use his equipment to make the recording experience a relaxing and enjoyable experience.Thank you Edd for integrity and professionalism." Thank you for contributing to the Indie music scene! Without you, music would be uninspired and all sound the same.
